Beginner's Dressmaking with Charlotte Newland
Learn to make your own clothes - and sew yourself a skirt in just three hours! Taught by Great British Sewing Bee winner, Charlotte Newland, you'll learn how to read patterns, cut your fabric and construct a beautiful garment that's special to you.
We'll be sewing the straight skirt version of our popular Dominique pattern from our friends at Tilly and the Buttons - and yes, it does have pockets!
This class is suitable for dressmaking beginners but you do need to know how to use a sewing machine.
We will provide:
- your pattern
- all equipment
- tea and biscuits!
You will need to provide:
- fabric - 1.1m (1 1/4 yards) x 150cm (60") OR 1.5m (1 5/8 yards) x 115cm (45") of a medium-weight woven fabric, such as cotton, chambray, double gauze, linen, lighter weight denim and needlecord
- thread in a matching colour
- elastic - your waist measurement in 25mm (1")
You will receive 10% off any supplies bought for this class from Slipstitch.
We encourage you to bring your own sewing machine if you have one! We have some in the shop that can be used - let us know if you need to borrow one (at no extra cost!)
