Sewing with Jersey with Charlotte Newland
Learn to sew with stretch - and make yourself a super flattering top in four hours! Taught by Great British Sewing Bee winner, Charlotte Newland, you'll learn how to work with jersey to create beautiful clothes that are special to you.
We'll be sewing the ever popular, super gorgeous Agnes top from our friends at Tilly and the Buttons
This class is suitable for beginners but you do need to know how to use a sewing machine.
We will provide:
- your pattern
- all equipment
- tea and biscuits!
You will need to provide:
- fabric - 1.5m (1 5/8 yards) x 150cm (60") OR 1.5m (1 5/8 yards) x 115cm (45") for sizes 1-5 or 2.3m x 115 (45") for sizes 6-8 of a light- to medium-weight stretch knit, such as cotton jersey, viscose jersey or wool jersey.
- thread in a matching colour
- 25cm (10") x 6-8mm (1/3") clear elastic, ribbon or stay tape
- 0.5m (20") x 5mm (1/8-1/4") wide woven or braided elastic for ruched sleeves and neckline
Fabric note: Check the fabric can be stretched crosswise at least 25% wider than its orginal width, and that it pings back down to size after stretching.

We encourage you to bring your own sewing machine if you have one! We have some in the shop that can be used - let us know if you need to borrow one (at no extra cost!)
